Congratulations!
By joining us on this site, you've taken the first step to being an Oklahoma RV parks, lakes & campgrounds expert. However, in order to achieve your "expert" status, you've got some ground to cover. Mastering the depth of diversity Oklahoma has to offer isn't for those without a significant case of wanderlust. Did you know this is the state where mile-for-mile you'll find the nation's most diverse terrain? Oklahomans have enjoyed our varying landscape for years and we want to make sure you know how important it is, so we'll say it again. Oklahoma has the most diverse terrain, mile-for-mile, than any other state in our great nation. And here's how... According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, we are one of only four states with more than 10 ecoregions. California, Texas and Alaska are the other three and are much more spread out than we are. To be more specific, we're roughly half the size of California, one-quarter the size of Texas, and one-eighth of the size of Alaska, yet we can boast almost everything they have to offer in a much more manageable space. You don't have to be a mathematician to understand those figures.
So what's this mean to you?
In a little more than an average workday, you can traverse the entire state, seeing everything from the Central Great Plains, to bustling city life, to the serenity of the Kiamichi Mountains, to the wonders of the Ozark Forest, to cypress swamps, to tallgrass prairies, to cave, to sand dunes and much more. As you can see, we'ver got it all. Not to mention hundreds of lakes, 50 state parks and many national recreational areas that provide a vast range of activities including camping, fishing, hiking, biking, boating, scuba diving, wildlife watching, and horseback riding, to name a few. In fact, Oklahoma has more miles of shoreline than the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts combined. And you thought this was the Dust Bowl, right? Not hardly. This short stretch of our history was drowned long ago when we created more than 200 man-made lakes including Grand Lake O' The Cherokees, Lake Eufaula, Lake Tenkiller and Lake Texoma.
Oklahoma isn't just beautiful to observe. There's so much to do along the way you'll have an amazing time just trying to get to it all. Undoubtedly, Oklahoma is America's most surprising oasis. And with our central location, we could be more convenient for everyone. Most importantly, you'll never meet friendlier or more hospitable people than right here in Oklahoma. So take some time to get to know the locals. Chances are, you'll be on their preferred guest list when you come back next year.
So, shall we get on the road?
